My Story

Valentina is a teacher, mentor, and life leader.

​

She has been devoted to yoga for 15 years, learning from experienced instructors with over 25 years of expertise.

 

Valentina earned her YOGA TEACHING certificate from GFU, Bogota, during 2009-2012.

​

In September 2011, she embarked on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at the Meditation and Ashtanga Yoga Workshop in Bogotá, Colombia.

​

Additionally, she completed technical studies as a Competency-Based Technical Worker in Physical Conditioning.

Yoga is spiritual practice that has the power to change your life. The Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series is a set sequence of postures that will open your mind and heart to the essence of the yoga lineage. This practice is both timeless and traditional, accessible to all levels and totally transformational. Regular practice builds a powerful internal fire that detoxifies the inner organs, tones the body, and increases flexibility.

​

FINISHING POSES

 

Entering the Inner Space

 

The finishing poses restore balance on multiple levels and seal the energy of the practice into your body and mind. This is more than just a cooldown routine to be skipped if you are in a hurry. Taking time to allow yourself to feel the effects of the practice on your emotional, physical, and spiritual states provides you with an honest mirror of the inner body.

 

When done correctly and with the right attitude of relaxation, the finishing poses produce a deeply healing effect that calms the nervous system, protects the joints, and encourages a healthy and spiritually open mind.

STANDING POSES

 

Build Your Foundation

​

The standing poses of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series deepen the structural foundation and alignment principles for the whole practice. These asanas comprise perhaps the most healing group of the practice. They are both accessible and beneficial for nearly all body types, and you can achieve a basic level of proficiency in them rather quickly with regular practice. Consisting of standing forward bends, standing twists, and external and internal hip rota- tions, these poses provide full-body stretching and strengthening and can help heal chronic injuries.

​

SEATED POSES

 

Grow Your Lotus

 

The asanas that are exclusive to the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series are mostly seated poses. The logic is that the Surya Namaskaras (Sun Salutations) and standing poses build a sense of connection with the earth, the dynamics of movement, and the inner body. Once this is established, you enter a wide variety of twists, forward bends, hip rotations, strength poses, and backbends.

BACKBENDS

​

Open Your Heart

 

In the world of yoga, the body is not separate from the mind. As you learn to access dormant muscles, tissues, bones, and spaces in your body, you simul- taneously learn to access dormant thoughts, emotions, feelings, power, and success. Backbends are perhaps the greatest teacher of total body bending available.

​

To get the full benefit from these poses, it is imperative that you think of the movements as coming from more than just "the back." They involve every muscle in your body, including your toes, legs, spine, diaphragm, shoulders, and head.

​

Yet your spine remains the central focus, as it is the epicenter for emotions, feelings, and energy. Yoga asks you to have conscious- ness within every vertebra, and backbends teach you to
